A registered agent, called an agent for service of process in California, accepts lawsuits and official notices for your company. It can be an individual with a California street address or a company registered with the Secretary of State as a corporate agent. Its name and address appear on the public record.
Why use a registered agent service
- Privacy. Your home address stays off the public record.
- Reliability. Someone is available during business hours to accept papers, so you don’t miss a deadline.
- Discretion. Legal papers are not served on you at home or in front of customers.
Our registered agent service
Your first year is included with every formation package. After that, it is $75 a year. We forward documents to you by email as soon as they arrive.
You can also serve as your own agent if you have a California street address and are there during business hours, or name another person who agrees to serve.
